Players will be generated using a roll based system beginning with the modified resurrection table listed as Figure 1. Background and class will be determined using the rules found in Unearthed Arcana pg. 100 with the amendments detailed in Figure 2 and Figure 3. In addition each player will roll for a trait as detailed using the rules on Unearthed Arcana pg. 86.

Once background and race are decided use the rules in the Player’s Handbook and Dungeon Master’s Guide to roll for abilities and wealth. It is up to you whether you wish to roll randomly for age, height, weight, etc but I feel it fits better with the theme.

Material found in Core Books (Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, Monster Manual) or the SRD ( will be the basis for character creation. In addition feats and prestige classes may be drawn from the following books. Faiths of Eberron, Mysteries of Xendrik, Secrets of Sarlona, Sharn: City of Towers, City of Stormreach, Forge of War, Dragonmarked, Explorers Handbook, and the Five Nations. In addition players may consult Magic Item Compendium and Spell Compendium as a source of purchasing gear or as a guide for spell selection while leveling up. Variant class and racial features will be subject to DM approval.

Each character will be allotted one low level magic item. To purchase this item each character will be allotted 375 gp which is the minimum for 50 charges of a cantrip during item creation or it allows for a masterwork item. This item must match the gear description on the table (ie Tim’s roll says wondrous item divination aura so he gets a ring or something with 50 charges of a divination cantrip). This gold must be spent on the item and any excess will be considered forfeit.

As a final consideration, I would like each player to attempt to answer the following questions in developing their backstory:

Where did you grow up? What was your childhood like? Did you know your parents and any siblings? Are they still alive?

Do you belong to any guild, organizations, or houses? How did you join?

Who are your current associates? Do you have any other relevant contacts?

What is your current job? What are your goals in this position? What about long term?

How did you come by your class and position?

Do you have any enemies?

How did the last war affect your character? (Remember it was about 15 years ago) Did you serve? Did your parents or family?

Has your character been affected by any of the other major events contained in the House Rules? Is he/she connected to any of those characters?
